U. S. A. Comics [USA Comics; U.S.A. Comics]
Marvel · 1941–1945 · 17 issues
About the series
Running for 17 issues through the early 1940s, U.S.A. Comics was Marvel's patriotic answer to the wartime fervor, a bombastic anthology series that packed each issue with a rotating roster of flag-waving heroes and wild adventure. While the book introduced no single breakout star, it became a proving ground for some of the era's most energetic talents, including the cartoonishly grotesque stylings of Basil Wolverton and scripting from Batman co-creator Bill Finger, with dynamic art from Syd Shores and Al Avison. More a snapshot of the Golden Age's relentless output than a landmark, it remains a fascinating time capsule of Marvel's wartime energy and the creative chaos that defined the company's early years.
