A short-lived but pivotal chapter in Marvel's Ultimate Universe, this 2012 series reimagined the X-Men under writer Nick Spencer, with artists Carlo Barberi and Kaare Andrews defining its look. Following the fallout of Ultimate Comics: The Ultimates, it launched a new status quo for mutantkind, blending the franchise's classic themes with the edgy, modernized tone of the Ultimate line.
