About the series
Launching Marvel's Ultimate line, this 133-issue series reimagined Peter Parker's early days as Spider-Man for a new generation, blending classic high-school drama with modern sensibilities. Brian Michael Bendis steered the narrative across the entire run, with Mark Bagley's energetic pencils defining the book's look for most of its first half before Stuart Immonen and John Romita Jr. took over. Centered on Peter, Mary Jane, Aunt May, and a fresh take on Gwen Stacy, it stripped away decades of continuity to deliver a grounded, character-driven take on the web-slinger. This series became the cornerstone of the Ultimate Universe and a defining Spider-Man story for the 2000s.
