About the series
In the mid-1970s, Finnish publisher Otava introduced readers to the time-traveling adventures of Valerian, a French sci-fi classic originally created by writer Pierre Christin and artist J. C. Mézières. This four-issue series, titled Valerian avaruusagentti, brought the duo’s visionary work to Finnish audiences, with scripts translated and adapted by Jyrki Ijäs and Heikki Kaukoranta. While a brief run, it stands as the first Finnish-language presentation of a series that would later influence global pop culture, marking a key moment in Nordic comics history.
