About the series
Vertigo Quarterly SFX (2015–2016) was a four-issue anthology series from DC’s Vertigo imprint, built around the creative challenge of using a single sound effect—like “CRASH” or “BOOM”—as the springboard for each volume’s stories. Primarily helmed by writer-artists Nathan Fox and Rob Davis, the series showcased a rotating roster of talent exploring the narrative and visual possibilities of onomatopoeia in short, standalone tales. Its compact run offered a playful, experimental showcase for the kind of genre-bending storytelling that defined Vertigo’s legacy.
