Wampus

From 1969 onward, Editions Lug published Wampus, a six-issue French comic series primarily written by Franco Frescura and illustrated by Luciano Bernasconi. It introduced a strange band of recurring characters—including the enigmatic Mister Song, the mysterious Jean Sten, the monstrous Wampus, the seductive Miss Kiss, and the fiery La Torche alongside the hulking La Chose—blending pulp adventure with the publisher's signature brand of Euro-superhero weirdness. Though short-lived, the series stands as a cult artifact of Lug's experimental late-60s output, showcasing the team's vibrant, off-kilter storytelling.
