About the series
Based on the 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon, this Charlton Comics series ran for seven issues from 1975 to 1976. The book followed the adventures of Wheelie, a sentient, talking Volkswagen Beetle, and his rivalry with the motorcycle-riding Chopper Bunch. The series was primarily written by Joe Gill and John Byrne, with Byrne also providing art alongside Joe Staton. It stands as a colorful, if brief, example of the licensed comics that filled spinner racks during the era.
