Where I'm Coming From

For over three decades, Barbara Brandon-Croft has chronicled the lives of a circle of Black women friends in this long-running single-panel comic, originally syndicated in 1993 by Andrews McMeel. Blending sharp social commentary with warm, everyday humor, the strip offers an intimate look at topics from dating and work to race and pop culture, all through the distinct voices of its characters. As one of the first nationally syndicated comics by a Black woman, Where I'm Coming From remains a landmark in the medium for its unflinching yet relatable portrayal of Black women's perspectives.
