About the series
In 1950, Marvel launched this short-lived, three-issue series built around the Western film star Whip Wilson, a singing cowboy known for his trademark bullwhip. Illustrated primarily by Joe Maneely and Dick Rockwell, the comic pitted Wilson against frontier outlaws alongside his recurring sidekick, Captain Tootsie. Though brief, the series captures the tail end of the classic movie-cowboy comic boom, offering a snapshot of Marvel's early Western output.
