About the series
In the mid-1950s, Marvel (then Atlas Comics) turned to the macabre with World of Mystery, a seven-issue anthology series that delivered quick, chilling tales of the supernatural and the uncanny. Anchored by the prolific Carl Wessler's scripting, the series featured eerie artwork from a rotating stable of artists including Paul Reinman, Chuck Miller, and Dick Ayers. While short-lived, it stands as a representative example of the pre-superhero horror trend that defined much of Atlas’s output before the Marvel Age.
