About the series
Гарфийлд (1992–1993) was a short-lived Bulgarian comic series published by Egmont Bulgaria, adapting the beloved, lasagna-loving, Monday-hating orange cat for a post-communist readership. Spanning just three issues, this localized edition brought Jim Davis’s iconic, sarcastic feline to a new audience during a pivotal era of cultural opening in Eastern Europe. While not a landmark run, it stands as a curious artifact of early-90s comics globalization, marking one of the first official appearances of a major Western comic property in Bulgaria.
