In 2005, the German publisher Salleck began reprinting the beloved French-language Yakari series, a long-running all-ages comic following a young Sioux boy who can communicate with animals. Originally created by writer Job and artist Derib, these gentle, beautifully illustrated adventures emphasize friendship, nature, and Native American folklore without the violent tropes common to the Western genre.
