A landmark anthology of the 1980s, Young Magazine was Kodansha’s weekly showcase for bold, mature manga, running for 210 issues. The series is most strongly associated with Katsuhiro Otomo, who served as both its most frequent writer and artist, alongside frequent contributor Makoto Kobayashi. It defined a gritty, cinematic edge in seinen comics and helped launch the careers of its key creators, cementing its importance in the decade’s manga landscape.
