ヤングジャンプ [Young Jump]
集英社 [Shueisha] · 1979–1980 · 37 issues
About the series
A short-lived but historically significant weekly manga anthology from Shueisha, Young Jump launched in 1979 and ran for 37 issues before ceasing publication in 1980. It was a precursor to the long-running Weekly Young Jump that debuted later, and it’s primarily remembered as the early home of Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima’s samurai epic The Samurai, a key work from the legendary creative duo behind Lone Wolf and Cub. Though brief, this original series helped establish the "young" demographic for seinen manga, paving the way for its more famous successor.
