Yummy Fur

From 1983 to 1985, Chester Brown unleashed Yummy Fur through his own Tortured Canoe imprint, a seven-issue black-and-white comic that marked his first major published work. Entirely written and drawn by Brown, the series introduced his raw, idiosyncratic style—wandering between surreal humor and unnerving psychological tension—before he would go on to become a defining voice in alternative comics. Though brief, it remains a crucial early document of a singular talent finding his footing.
