Zone 5300
Stichting RTK · 1994–1999 · 41 issues
About the series
Published from 1994 to 1999 by Stichting RTK, Zone 5300 was a Dutch comics anthology that ran for 41 issues, blending surreal, often wordless storytelling with a distinctly offbeat European sensibility. The series is most strongly associated with the dreamlike, hallucinatory work of Jim Woodring and the whimsical, autobiographical strips of Maaike Hartjes, while Rik van Schagen contributed a significant visual presence across the run. A vital showcase for avant-garde and alternative comics in the Netherlands, it remains a cult touchstone for its boundary-pushing, meditative approach to the medium.
