Alan McElroy
Alan B. McElroy is an American writer whose work spans film, television, comic books, and video games. He is best known for his long-running collaborations with Todd McFarlane on the *Spawn* franchise, and for scripting horror films such as *Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers* and *Wrong Turn*. Born in the United States, McElroy entered the comics industry in the mid-1990s, becoming a key voice in the *Spawn* universe. His most credited work appears on *Curse of the Spawn*, a spin-off series he helped shape, as well as the *Spawn Movie Adaptation* and *Pilot Season: Anonymous*. His style often blends supernatural horror with gritty, character-driven storytelling, and he worked closely with McFarlane to expand the mythology of the Hellspawn. Beyond comics, McElroy’s screenwriting credits established him as a reliable hand in genre cinema. While specific awards are not widely recorded for his comics work, his contributions to the *Spawn* line remain a defining part of his career. Active in the industry from 1996 through at least 2011, McElroy’s legacy is that of a versatile writer who moved fluidly between media, leaving a clear mark on both horror film and the darker corners of superhero comics.
