Bob Ogle
Bob Ogle was an American voice actor, animator, and writer best known for his work on Disney comics, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. He was born Robert Allen Ogle on May 28, 1926, and died on February 25, 1984. Ogle entered the comics field after a career in animation and voice acting, where he often performed characters in the style of Bill Thompson’s Wallace Wimple from *Fibber McGee and Molly*. His writing credits span from 1964 to 2021, with his most frequent contributions appearing in *Donald Duck*, *Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories*, *Walt Disney Super Goof*, *Walt Disney’s the Phantom Blot*, *Almanacco Topolino*, and *Walt Disney the Beagle Boys*. Ogle’s scripts were marked by a playful, character-driven humor that suited the Disney stable, and he collaborated regularly with artists like Tony Strobl and Carl Buettner. He co-created the Phantom Blot as a recurring antagonist, though the character originated in earlier animation. Later in life, Ogle continued to write for Disney publications, leaving a legacy of lighthearted, family-friendly storytelling. He received no major awards during his lifetime, but his work remains a staple of mid-century Disney comics.
