Dan Vado
Dan Vado was born on September 9, 1959, in the United States. He is best known as the founder, owner, and publisher of Slave Labor Graphics (SLG Publishing), an independent comics house that became a haven for alternative and creator-owned work. Vado began his comics career in the mid-1980s, writing for DC Comics on titles such as *Justice League America* and *Extreme Justice*, as well as the short-lived *S.T.A.R. Corps*. His own creations include the humor series *Hero Sandwich* and the anthropomorphic adventure *Samurai Penguin*. As a writer, Vado often collaborated with artists like Norm Breyfogle and Sergio Cariello. His most notable co-creation is *The Griffin*, a supernatural superhero series. Under his leadership, SLG Publishing published acclaimed works by other creators, including *Johnny the Homicidal Maniac* and *The Nightmare Before Christmas* comics. Vado remained active in the industry through 2017, with credits spanning over 70 issues. His legacy lies in championing indie comics and providing a platform for offbeat voices. He has received industry recognition for his contributions to independent publishing.
