Elliot Caplin (December 25, 1913 – February 20, 2000) was an American comic strip writer best known for co-creating *The Heart of Juliet Jones* with artist Stan Drake. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the younger brother of Al Capp, the creator of *Li'l Abner*. Caplin began his career in comics writing for his brother’s strip before striking out on his own. His signature work, *The Heart of Juliet Jones*, launched in 1953 and became a long-running soap-opera strip celebrated for its sophisticated storytelling and Drake’s elegant art. Caplin’s writing also extended to adaptations of Ian Fleming’s James Bond, appearing in European and American comics. Over his career, he was credited on 26 issues spanning from 1949 to 2018, with notable work in *Four Aces Comic* and Scandinavian series like *Seriemagasinet*. He often collaborated with artists such as Drake and John Prentice. Caplin’s legacy lies in his ability to craft compelling, character-driven narratives that elevated the soap-opera genre in comics. He received no major awards during his lifetime, but his influence is evident in the enduring popularity of *Juliet Jones*. He died in New York City at age 86.
