J. K. Woodward
J. K. Woodward is a comic book artist best known for his painted work on the long-running IDW series *Fallen Angel*. Born James Kenneth Woodward, he brought a distinct, painterly approach to the medium, blending traditional pencil-and-ink with digital assistance and CMYK color methods. He entered the comics industry in the mid-2000s, quickly establishing himself as the defining visual voice for Peter David’s *Fallen Angel* universe, illustrating the main series as well as its sequels *Fallen Angel: Return of the Son* and *Fallen Angel Reborn*. Woodward’s style, rich in texture and mood, also made him a natural fit for Star Trek comics, where he collaborated on ambitious crossovers like *Star Trek: The Next Generation / Doctor Who: Assimilation²* and adaptations such as *Star Trek: Harlan Ellison's Original The City on the Edge of Forever Teleplay* and *Star Trek: Mirror Broken*. Over a career spanning from 2005 to 2022, he is credited as artist, colorist, or inker on 86 issues. Woodward’s legacy lies in his ability to bring a fine-art sensibility to mainstream comic storytelling, earning him a dedicated following among fans of painted sequential art.
