Mike Deodato

Deodato Taumaturgo Borges Filho, who works professionally as Mike Deodato, was born on May 23, 1963, in Brazil. He has built one of the more durable careers in mainstream American superhero comics, remaining a prolific presence from his early 1990s work through the mid-2020s — a span of more than three decades.

Deodato's draftsmanship is characterized by muscular figure work, cinematic panel compositions, and a flair for dramatic lighting that suits the action-heavy titles he has gravitated toward. His output has been especially associated with Marvel Comics, where he has contributed to some of the publisher's flagship series. Among his most frequently credited assignments are New Avengers, Savage Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Invincible Iron Man, and Original Sin, the last of which served as a major Marvel crossover event.
