Tomm Coker
Tomm Coker (born Thomas L. Coker, November 3, 1972) is an American comic book artist and filmmaker. He is best known for his moody, shadow-drenched work on crime and horror titles, particularly the occult financial thriller *The Black Monday Murders* (with writer Jonathan Hickman) and the gritty *Daredevil Noir*. Coker entered comics in the early 1990s, contributing as an artist, colorist, and inker across more than 50 issues from 1993 to 2019. His signature style—heavy inks, stark contrasts, and a cinematic sense of composition—made him a natural fit for dark, atmospheric stories. He co-created *The Monolith* with writer Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, and illustrated adaptations of Stephen King’s *The Stand* and the supernatural series *Nightfall: The Black Chronicles*. Coker also worked as a film director and writer, bringing a visual storyteller’s sensibility to both mediums. Though he never won major industry awards, his collaborations with Hickman and others earned him a devoted following among fans of mature, noir-inflected comics. Later in his career, he stepped back from regular comics work but remains a respected figure for his distinctive, brooding art.
