Tula Lotay
1975–
Tula Lotay is the professional name of Lisa Wood, an English comics artist born in 1975. She is best known for her ethereal, painterly artwork on *Supreme: Blue Rose*, a surreal superhero series written by Warren Ellis for Image Comics, and for co-creating the acclaimed Vertigo miniseries *Bodies* with writer Si Spencer. Lotay’s delicate linework and muted, atmospheric colors give her pages a dreamlike quality, often blending horror and fantasy. In 2007, she founded the Thought Bubble Festival in Leeds, which grew into the United Kingdom’s largest annual comic convention, a testament to her dedication to the comics community. Her other notable credits include *Barnstormers: A Ballad of Love and Murder*, *Legends of Red Sonja*, and a contribution to *All-Star Batman: Renacimiento*. She has worked as an artist, colorist, inker, and writer across 36 issues from 2013 to 2025. Lotay’s influence extends beyond her own art; she has mentored emerging creators and championed diversity in the industry. She has received multiple award nominations for her work, including the British Comic Awards, and remains a respected figure for her distinctive visual style and her role in building a major platform for comics culture.
