Project 10073 UFO Investigation Report, July 1949. Official U.S. Air Force documentation recording an unidentified flying object sighting at Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, Texas, on 7 July 1949 at 1350 hours. The observer, identified as First Lieutenant Alfred Schoef, was working on the horizontal stabilizer of a B-36 aircraft when he sighted a single object traveling south to north at approximately 300 mph. The object appeared spherical, resembling a soap bubble, silver-colored, and semi-transparent, approximately three inches in diameter at arm's length, with no visible sound or exhaust trail. Observation duration was 15 seconds at 90-degree elevation. The report includes investigation forms, weather conditions, radar unit data, and the observer's sworn statement. The concluding analysis attributes the sighting to a Rawinsonde weather balloon released by Carswell AFB at 1200 hours, though the observer disputed this identification.
