# Tiger Tom, the Texan Terror

Serialized western adventure by Oll Coombes, presented in Chapter I: "An Intercepted Message." A prairie merchant Daniel Walden leads an eight-wagon train across Western Texas with his eighteen-year-old daughter Jacquetta, her friend Irene Miller, and twenty men total. Jacquetta is skilled at riding and shooting. The narrative reveals that Walden once employed a young scout named Tom Brayton, whom he dismissed fearing romantic involvement with Jacquetta. Tom subsequently became the notorious outlaw "Tiger Tom," now reportedly leading a bandit gang. When Walden's party intercepts a carrier-pigeon message revealing their location and route to an unknown sender, Walden suspects Tiger Tom's involvement. As Jacquetta and Irene ride ahead to the Colorado River ford, they encounter danger: Jacquetta becomes trapped in quicksand while a Comanche warrior attacks. A mysterious white ranger in tiger-emblazoned uniform appears to defend her against the savage. The train comes under attack on the plains.
