Selección Terror: Prisionero del Diablo

· 1975

This Spanish-language pulp thriller, "Prisionero del Diablo" (Prisoner of the Devil) by Clark Carrados, follows detective Brando Colter through a supernatural mystery. The narrative opens with Colter's encounter with his old friend Ray Gardiner, who has unexpectedly inherited a Scottish baronial castle, Harnigan Tower, along with substantial wealth. A mysterious stranger named Amos Ferguson appears to warn Gardiner against accepting the inheritance, claiming the castle is cursed—that the first Baron Harnigan's restless soul compels inhabitants toward terrible crimes, and the last baron was hanged 120 years prior. Ferguson vanishes impossibly, questioned by neither the waitress nor Gardiner himself. Later, Colter encounters Polly Adams and her elegant Brazilian friend Anita Souza, with whom he arranges to meet for drinks. The story involves supernatural warnings, mysterious disappearances, and the looming threat posed by the cursed estate.
