# "Los esclavos técnicos" (The Technical Slaves)

This Spanish-language science fiction narrative concerns the kidnapping of children for mysterious purposes. The story opens with nine-year-old Dick Herlin being abducted by a well-dressed couple, Maggy and Elmer, who drug him and conceal him in a secret compartment in their car's trunk. Simultaneously, a school bus carrying thirty-two schoolgirls from Greenbank College crashes into a river due to a mechanical failure, with mass casualties reported. Six-year-old Diane Marshall survives the wreck and is rescued by the same criminal couple, who administer sedatives to both children. The narrative reveals the pair operates from an upscale home with a basement containing numbered shipping crates padded with leather straps—equipment designed to transport the children. Dick and Diane are secured in crates labeled as machinery shipments from New York to Chicago. Late that night, two men in white coveralls collect the crates in a delivery van, driving away into darkness. The text suggests an organized trafficking operation with sinister, unexplained intentions for the captive children.
