# Northwest Romances, February 1943

This issue features two Yukon-set novels and three novelets of northern adventure. The cover story, "Girl of the Golden Avalanche" by Moran Tudury, depicts Tom Carey, a destitute former Alaskan police sergeant, cheated at cards and driven out of town by the powerful mining magnate Olaf Anton. When an attractive female tenderfoot offers him $100 to transport her to Anton's Mad Mountain territory, Carey initially refuses, knowing the venture court disaster. "The He-Wolf's Whelp" by Dex Volney concerns Lanier, offspring of a slain wolf-dog, who pursues blood revenge against the McCade clan. Shorter works include Frederick L. Nebel's "Boomerang Bonanza," about con-men ensnared by their own gold rush scheme; Arthur Lawson's "Stalker of the Death Trail," following a revenge-driven Bob Batten across the Arctic; and "Queen of the Tundra Men" by Sgt. Dan O'Rourke, detailing Kate Rendo's imperiled dominion. Three additional short stories round out the issue.
