This May 1958 issue of The Saint Detective Magazine features six mystery stories across multiple national traditions. Louis Golding's "The Punctual Murderer" (novella) follows three unmarried English sisters—Prudence Chimney, Hazel Chimney, and Joan Irwin—who, following their father's death, meet Mrs. Huxtable on a train to London. Huxtable persuades them to purchase the Victoria Crescent Hotel in Pimlico, which they take possession of by Monday. The narrative establishes the hotel's wartime setting and introduces the ladies to their morally ambiguous guests, including an encounter with a drunken American soldier and his companion.

Additional stories include E. Phillips Oppenheim's "The Thirteenth Card," Craig Rice's "Lady's Day at the Morgue," Edgar Wallace's "Happy Travellers," James M. Fox's "The Candid Corpse," and Leslie Charteris's "The Art Photographer."
