Danny, victim of a head injury from a fall in the last round-up, had rather thorough- ly shot up the town. Although the frenzied boy, cold sober, but suffering from some mental delusion, had killed no one—chiefly be- cause his aim was bad—it would have 132 made an excellent news story for the front page of the Weekly Mesa Grande Tidings. The youth had been disarmed and subdued after a flurry of extraordinary excitement; had been taken home to the ranch and put in care of his father: Dad Skinner had paid damages to one and all for broken glass and shattered furniture and fixtures.
