When Bud Abbott and Lou Costello's dinner bill at a fancy restaurant spirals into chaos, they're forced to work off their debt—Costello as the cook and Abbott as head waiter—just as the evening rush begins. With Costello's culinary disasters, a visit from opera star Luigi Pastrami, and mayhem erupting in both kitchen and dining room, the pair must somehow survive the night without burning down the place. It's a mad scramble of mistaken dishes, slapstick mishaps, and increasingly desperate schemes to stay one step ahead of an angry boss.

Bud Abbott's real estate business is struggling, so when Lou Costello—who's just inherited a fortune—arrives looking to buy property, Bud sees his chance. As Bud shows Costello increasingly questionable houses (complete with unwanted tenant mice, a cooling system fit for olives, and mosquitoes), it becomes clear the sales pitch is about to hit a snag.

When Lou Costello accidentally runs off with a football at Radium Stadium, he catches the eye of Coach Roach, who recruits both him and Bud Abbott as freshmen for Indigo Tech's squad. As game day arrives against Thank U., Coach Roach holds Costello on the bench for a crucial moment—but forgets to tell him the secret play before sending him in, leaving our hero to improvise his way to an unexpected victory. It's a wild ride of fumbles, mix-ups, and last-minute heroics that proves sometimes not knowing the playbook is half the fun.
