“Out of the Ordinary”

In "Out of the Ordinary," Archie takes a bold (and wildly uncharacteristic) turn trying to impress a new girl named Tina by embracing the punk look—complete with a mohawk wig. When Tina drops the surprising condition that she’ll only date someone with a mohawk, Reggie steps in with a real one, only to learn she’s already moved away. Written by Nate Butler and illustrated by Dan DeCarlo Jr., with inks by Jim DeCarlo, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, this 1988 issue captures the classic charm of Riverdale’s teenage antics, all under a cover by Dan DeCarlo.

Archie tries to dress and act like a punk to impress a punk girl named Tina. Then, Tina tells him that she will date any man with a mohawk. So, Archie wears a mohawk wig to school. Not to be outdone, Reggie gets a real mohawk. Unfortunately, Tina moves away before she can see Reggie's mohawk.
