“The Big Pitch”

In "The Big Pitch," Archie’s routine caddy shift takes a wild turn when he stops by Dilton’s garage and gets caught in the inventor’s latest gadget: the pocket snoozer, a pocket-sized inflatable mattress that accidentally sends him soaring above the Hackleton Golf Club. Written and illustrated by Bob Bolling, with inks by Chic Stone and colors by Barry Grossman, this 1984 classic captures the charm and whimsy of Riverdale’s favorite teen, all capped by a cover by Bolling and Stone.

On the way to caddy for Mr. Weatherbee at the Hackleton Golf Club, a sleepy Archie stops off at Dilton's garage, where the diminutive genius unveils his latest invention: the "pocket snoozer," an inflatable mattress that fits into your pocket. Unfortunately, Archie leaves the valve on while taking a nap on the mattress, and soon finds himself airborne, floating over Mr. Weatherbee's club.
