“Patch Work”

In "Patch Work," the girls' club tries a clever (and slightly mischievous) plan to get Little Archie interested in romance by arranging a movie date with one of their own. Bubbles McBounce draws the winning name—only to claim her hand is stuck in the bowl and sneak the date by default. But when Betty insists on checking, the truth behind the ruse begins to unravel. Written and illustrated by Bob Bolling, this 1975 Archie Comics Digest tale captures the lighthearted charm and playful antics of Riverdale’s youngest residents, all rendered in Bolling’s signature style. The cover by Bob Bolling complements the story’s whimsical tone.
