Veronica and Betty arrive at the Lodge mansion to find an infant in a basket on the doorstep. Assuming that the mother is irresponsible, they take the infant in. Later they find out that the mother is impoverished and can't support her child. Hiram Lodge engages a detective to find her and offer her a position running a daycare he's set up for his employees so she has an adequate income and an opportunity to raise her baby.
