After causing chaos in her home—eating bacon, getting ice cream on himself, and biting her finger when she tries to bathe him—Snoozer eventually flees. He encounters a giant and a dragon in a secret passage, manages to escape with their help, and briefly reunites with Doggety before heading toward "Happiland." The story concludes with Snoozer meeting a farmer named Hardscrabble and receiving payment for work, after which he sets off to find Willie and continue toward his destination of Happiland, intending to give a pretty lady a fancy hat.
Snoozer the watchman can't stay awake on the job, so when he finally nods off, Barney Rooster and his pals cook up an elaborate prank: they age the town, change street signs, swap out trees, and don themselves in fake beards to convince Snoozer he's slept for twenty years. The joke backfires when Snoozer, terrified by his supposed lost decade, actually stays alert and keeps his job—until the truth comes out and he predictably returns to his old naptime ways.

Prof. Bacon scrambles to make it to a ferry for the Professor's Convention, but his clock runs slow and throws him into a frantic chase through town. When he nearly misses the departing ferry, the professor makes a daring leap—only to discover the boat was just arriving, not leaving.
