Betty befriends an older woman who is a famous mystery writer. When the woman passes away suddenly, Betty is at a loss as to how to cope with her friend's death. In her will, Lydia leaves Betty her detailed diaries covering her entire life. Betty reads the diaries and learns more about her friend than ever. She also learns about a handsome soldier from years past whom Lydia loved very much.
