"The Gunfight!" features Billy the Kid confronting a man named Tall Elk over a territorial dispute. When Billy discovers that his brother's letter—which Tall Elk had been holding—was thrown away rather than preserved, he challenges Tall Elk in a dramatic confrontation among rocky cliffs. Billy pursues Tall Elk up a treacherous canyon passage, where Tall Elk attempts to trap him by pushing rocks down from above, but Billy manages to escape and ultimately overcome his adversary. The story concludes with Billy emerging victorious from the dangerous encounter, having avenged his brother's honor.
