Charro Pete's gang run off the Cartwright party's horses, but the Cartwrights wound and capture Charro Pete. Making their way on foot they buy mustangs from the Rico family, taking little Sarita with them to Virginia City. There they find her father about to be hanged, mistaken for Charro Pete. Ben stops the hanging and delivers Charro Pete to the marshal, who makes the Ricos guests in his home.
