Booster Gold #36

Nov 2010 · DC · 2.99 USD; 2.99 CAD
“This Man... This Chipmunk!”

In "This Man... This Chipmunk!", Booster Gold, Skeets, and Big Barda are whisked away by Mister Miracle’s boom tubes, landing back on Earth after a brush with the Darkstars. When Booster returns to rescue Blue Beetle, he finds the hero transformed into a chipmunk by Queen Artemis, who demands his allegiance. As the group is taken to Starlag, Booster realizes they’ve arrived just before the alien invasion that would later inspire L.E.G.I.O.N.—but it’s not Vril Dox who leads the charge. Instead, a mysterious figure named Estrogina declares she’ll rally anyone willing to join her in a prison break. Written by Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis, with art by Pat Olliffe and cover by Kevin Maguire, this 2010 issue blends time-travel chaos with a surprisingly surreal twist.

Mister Miracle boom tubes Booster Gold, Skeets, and Big Barda away from the Darkstars' justice and back to Earth. After a quick trip to the present, Booster returns to rescue Blue Beetle, but finds Queen Artemis has turned him into a chipmunk for refusing to become her consort. She allows the Darkstars to take the heroes to Starlag where they meet Vril Dox. Booster realizes that they have arrived just before the alien invasion that led to Dox's founding of L.E.G.I.O.N. But it is someone named Estrogina, not Dox, who announces that she will lead whoever wants to join her in a prison break.
