Catwoman #56

There's something quietly compelling about this Adam Hughes cover for Catwoman #56 — Selina Kyle sits at a diner counter in full costume, goggles resting at her collar, stirring a steaming cup of coffee with the weary calm of someone who has seen too much. The warm red neon glow behind her gives the scene an almost noir-ish intimacy that suits the tone of Will Pfeifer's "The Replacements" arc perfectly. With art by David López and inks by Álvaro López bringing the interior story to life, this 2006 installment is a fine example of the series at its street-level best.
