Cheyenne Kid #22

The Cheyenne Kid investigates a series of cattle thefts in Adolph Morse’s valley, following a calf with a smudged brand that points to amateurish rustling. When he confronts two young ranchers who claim Morse stole their land and family, he learns they’ve been stealing back what was taken—turning the tables on the real thief. The Cheyenne Kid must now outwit Morse, who plans to frame the rustlers and eliminate him in a trap.

The Cheyenne Kid arrives at Brig. General Ray Butler’s ranch just as Tall Wolf and his warriors launch an attack, determined to avenge his father Manoto’s defeat. With Butler’s family trapped inside, the Cheyenne Kid devises a daring plan to outwit the Sioux by using a white flag and a bold parley, hoping to end the violence before it escalates further.

Blackjack, a trusted horse, is temporarily taken to a ranch to rest while a group of cowboys, including Tate Baker and the suspicious John Terhune, enlist Rocky Lane to track down stolen thoroughbreds. When the trail leads to a hidden tunnel behind Dead End Falls, Blackjack discovers the secret lair where the rustlers are fattening the stolen horses—only to realize the scheme is far more cunning than it first appears.

The Cheyenne Kid returns to his adopted tribe, reuniting with old friends including the aging Chief Nomosan, his longtime companion Running Bull, and the spirited young woman Paha. Tensions rise when Running Bull grows resentful of the Cheyenne Kid’s return, leading to a physical challenge that escalates into a dangerous rift, especially after Running Bull leads a raid on the greedy rancher Purdy’s land.
