“Une terre de mort”

In "Une terre de mort," two paratroopers—one German, one GI—find their paths twisted by fate as they crash-land in the same ruined tank, cut off from their units and stranded on Hill 39. Written by Bob Haney and brought to life with sharp, dynamic art by Mort Drucker, this tense wartime clash unfolds in the sky and on the ground, where survival hinges on a single soldier’s will. The cover, a striking collaboration by Joe Kubert, captures the moment’s raw intensity.

Hill 39 is the goal. Two paratrooper forces - veteran Germans and green apple GIs - parachute and firefight in the sky. All are blown off course except two enemies. The German and GI tangle chutes, fistfight, occupy a lost tank - and only the GI is left to hold the hill until his buddies arrive.
