Robert Gilbert Haney, Jr. was born on March 15, 1926, and became one of DC Comics' most prolific workhorses during the Silver and Bronze Ages of American comics. He died on November 25, 2004.

Haney broke into the industry in 1948 and over the following decades racked up credits on more than 600 issues, leaving his deepest mark on titles such as *The Brave and the Bold*, *Unknown Soldier*, *World's Finest Comics*, *Teen Titans*, *Superman*, and *Blackhawk*. His run on *The Brave and the Bold* in particular became something of a cult touchstone — freewheeling, energetic team-up stories that paired Batman with a revolving roster of DC heroes in ways that prioritized momentum over strict continuity.

His contribution to DC's roster of characters was substantial. Haney co-created the Teen Titans, giving the publisher its first major teen superhero team, and was involved in bringing to life a remarkable range of figures including Black Manta, Metamorpho, Eclipso, Cain, and the Super-Sons concept. His style leaned toward pulpy, adventure-driven plotting, and he collaborated regularly with artists across DC's editorial stable throughout his long career.

Though later scholarship sometimes treated his looser approach to continuity as a quirk, his sheer creative output and the durability of his co-creations cement a meaningful legacy in mainstream American comics.
