El Buitre ha estado hospitalizado durante un tiempo y cuando conoce a Nathan Lubensky recobra las ganas de vivir. Tras ello se escapa y empieza a cometer robos por la ciudad. Para esconderse se aloja en el Retswell Nursing Home, donde también se encuentra Lubensky. Cuando Peter Parker visita a su Tía May identifica a Toomes y tiene una batalla contra él como Spiderman. Tras la batalla, el Buitre consigue escapar.
