Svarte Zarano har förrått Barachanöarna och dess huvudstad Tortage till zingaranska flottan. Conan och en handfull pirater klarar inte att hålla stånd mot invasionstyrkorna. Furst Hambria (make till lady Morganis) kräver att Conan leder honom till ett undervattenstempel så att hans trollkarl Sinnjatorix kan stjäla monstret Ataratas kraft. Sinnjatorix klarar dock inte av att härbärgera kraften utan förvandlas själv till ett monster som dödar furst Hambria. Conan dödar Sinnjatorix och räddas av några barachanska pirater.
