Conan Classic #7
In "The Lurker Within," Conan is hired by Lady Aztrias of Numalia to steal a mysterious bowl from the wealthy merchant Kallian—only to find the house empty and Kallian dead. When the city guard arrives and accuses Conan of murder, he must face a creature born from the bowl: a serpent-man with a human head, a deadly secret from Stygia. With Barry Smith’s bold artwork and Barry Windsor-Smith’s striking cover, this 1994 Marvel classic blends ancient dread and savage intrigue, all anchored in the timeless mythos of Robert E. Howard and Roy Thomas.

Conan saves Lady Aztrias of Numalia from a pack of wolves. She hires Conan to steal from the wealthy merchant Kallian, who temporarily houses a mysterious bowl from Stygia, said to contain a great treasure. Conan burgles the merchant's house, finds the bowl empty and Kallian dead. The city guard appears and Lady Aztrias accuses him of killing Kallian. The real killer was in the bowl, however: a serpent-man, a big snake with a human head. Conan kills the serpent-man and saves Demetrio. In a vision, Conan sees the Stygian sorcerer Thoth-Amon.
