“The Face of Death”

In "The Face of Death," the multiverse fractures further as Monarch manipulates heroes from across realities into deadly trials, pitting the Ray Palmer Ray, Apollo, and the Ray of Earth-10 against one another. While the Superman of Earth-31 rallies resistance and the Blue Beetle of Earth-33 races to build a countermeasure, the tension mounts in the Bleed—where Monarch’s forces face a sudden, unforeseen danger. Written by Keith Champagne and illustrated by Scott McDaniel, with inks by Andy Owens, colors by Guy Major, and letters by John J. Hill, this issue’s cover by Andy Kubert captures the escalating stakes.

While the Superman from Earth-31 rallies the heroes to fight Monarch's plans, and the Blue Beetle from Earth-33 works on a device to defeat Monarch, the villain continues to pit trios of heroes against each other. After returning the surviving Batmen to the Bleed, Monarch sets the Ray Palmer Ray, Apollo, and the Ray of Earth-10 against each other, then the Blue Beetles and Scarab, and finally the Green Lanterns. But back in the Bleed, Monarch's men face an unexpected threat.
