“Maniac at Large”

"Maniac at Large" delivers a chilling, tightly wound tale of obsession and mistaken identity, anchored by Jack Oleck’s taut script and Bernie Krigstein’s masterful, haunting artwork—his inks lending every shadow a pulse. The story unfolds with grim precision as Ed, consumed by two years of vengeance, confronts Marty, only to find himself caught in a web of deceit that unravels in a single, brutal moment. Cover by Jack Kamen captures the tension with stark, expressive detail, while Marie Severin’s subtle coloring deepens the mood of this 1955 EC classic.

Ed had been looking for Marty for two years, hoping to exact revenge upon him for taking his girl, Shirley, and his money. But Marty tries to convince Ed that the girl and his soon-to-be wife, was no good and it was her idea to take Ed's money. But Ed discovered it was a ruse to await a local trooper that stopped in every night about that time. Unfortunately, as the trooper drove up, a speeding car went by and the cop went after it. As Ed kills Marty, the trooper is talking to the couple in the car: a guy and Shirley, Marty's wife, who was cheating on him.
